Aside from showing us their vision for fall 2017, many designers were choosing to make social and political statements from the runway, as well. The biggest statement was diversity. Designers used models of all sizes, ethnicity, and ages. I think it was a welcome change for the industry, finally.
The second biggest story was jackets. Jackets dominated many collections including Marc Jacobs. He showed everything from bombers to pea coats to trenches.





The runways also had an overwhelming sense of masculinity with tailored pantsuits as a staple in many collections. Leather was a highlighted fabric, along with fur, and shiny patent finishes.

There were so many wearable pieces including soft midi skits, sweaters, and turtlenecks. And, one of my favorite accessories of the season, elbow-length gloves
