I’ve recently been reading about beer cocktails, so I wanted to give one a try. I think it’s complimentary to the season, something full bodied and complex. I have to tell you, I love this cocktail! As I’ve said before, I am not a bourbon lover, but this cocktail sold me. I used a cherry wheat beer, which I thought paired nicely with the fruitiness of the cocktail.
Black-beery Whiskey Smash
based on recipe from DomesticateMe
- ¼ cup fresh blackberries
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 6 fresh mint leaves
- 2 teaspoons raw sugar
- 2 ounces bourbon whiskey
- 2 ounces wheat beer
- Muddle fresh blackberries, lemon juice, mint leaves and sugar in a highball glass. Stir in the whiskey. Add ice (crushed if possible) and top with wheat beer.
- If you’re feeling fancy, cut a wooden skewer so that it’s slightly taller than your glass. Thread 4-5 blackberries onto the skewer and add it to your cocktail along with a sprig of fresh mint.
A complex cocktails call for a complex outfit. The fringe necklace and patent boots with Lucite heels bring an air of sophistication to this basic denim shirt dress.
