As we are still in the throws of fashion weeks around the globe, I thought I’d share with you my impressions of the collections. Since Anna Wintour stated during New York fashion week that fashion is now so much about individuality that “trend” is a dirty word, I’ll share my top “themes” for the season.
My one word for fall 2015 is Subdued. Silhouettes will be very lean, soft shapes. Clean lines, not a lot of extraneous details (ie. ruffles, puffs, etc.). The color stories varied from neutral black, gray and brown to jewel tones in blues, greens and purples. Hints of red and olive. And an unexpected pops of yellow in some collections.
Top Themes for Fall 2015
Turtlenecks
Vivien Tam
The turtleneck is back. Soft and cozy, it’s the quintessential fall top. And, it keeps your neck warm.
Cropped Pants
Victoria Beckham
This one is a bit a of a contradiction. Short pants in cooler weather, but they are great for showing off ankle boots or booties.
Flats
Calvin Klein
Let us all rejoice at the return of the flat shoe! We will no longer be hobbled by the ridiculously high platforms, and can confidently stride into the season.
Capes
Michael Kors
A classic fall topper, the cape is chic and sophisticated. Great way to add a layer of warmth without resorting to a full-on coat.
Patterned Tights
Rebecca Minkoff
A patterned tight can be a little intimidating. But in a subtle pattern, they can be an inexpensive way to add some spice to your fall wardrobe.
Shift Dresses
Kate Spade
Classic, easy to wear, the shift dress is a closet staple. Neutral colors can be a part of your wardrobe for years, while vibrant colors and fun patterns can be the bright spots that add pizzazz to your closet.
