Cocktail Hour – The Whiskey Sour

fa-Whiskey-Sour I’m not a big whiskey drinker in general, but I enjoy a good sour drink every once in a while.  The whiskey sour always brings back memories of my parents entertaining back in the day.  Their good friends drank whiskey sours, so whenever I’d see a pitcher mixed up in the frig, I knew we’d be relegated to the family room, while the “grown-ups” enjoyed their yellowy-orange elixir.

In honor of this classic party drink, I’m styling up a fun, but casual party dress that you can sport to your next gathering.

Cocktail Hour - The Whiskey Sour

My mom’s whiskey sour recipe was made with Tang (yes, Tang! It was the 70’s).  This recipe is the classic version, and relies on more natural ingredients (hey, if you’re going to drink booze, you might try to be a little healthy).


Whiskey Sour
75 oz Fresh lemon juice
.75 oz Simple syrup (one part water, one part sugar)
1.5 oz Bourbon
garnish: Cherry and/or lemon wedge (optional)Add all the ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake, and strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a cherry and/or lemon wedge if desired.
