Mad for Hats

Access Hollywood

With the wedding of William and Kate last week and Easter in our recent past, and the upcoming Kentucky derby and Mother’s Day, everyone is abuzz about hats.

Hats in their most basic form are a utility piece of clothing. They protect us from the cold in the winter and the sun in the summer. For women, it was also a sign of modesty, keeping our heads covered. But, as with most things, the stylish will always find a way to turn something of utility into something expressive. And thus, the fanciful hat was born.

I, for one, am a hat lover. Hats are fun. There is an element of mystery to a person wearing a hat, an elegance, and element of STYLE. I do have a small number of hats in my wardrobe. But, I do feel like I don’t wear them enough. Most of them are cold weather hats like this newsboy style.

So, as I was perusing the lastest edition of InStyle, I was thinking I really want to add some warm weather hats to my wardrobe. I started with this linen newsboy cap.

My next acquisition will hopefully be something like this….

I’m not entirely sure if it’s my style or suits my face, but I’m sure I’ll find something to satisfy my desire for more hats in my life.

What about you? Are you mad for hats?

  1. I too love hats. However, due to my small melon, most overwhelm me Which is not only frustrating but a huge bummer as well. Since a custom “fascinator” is not in my future, I will remain on the hunt for that one out there that just might fit!
